Meet... Jess
Hi, I’m Jess — the reader behind Jess’s Secret Shelf.
I’m a busy, working mom of two with a reestablished love for reading. I read a lot as a kid, but when life got hectic, I let reading fall by the wayside, as most adults do. A few years ago, I made a conscious decision to start reading again. Every time I sat down at the end of a long day to doomscroll, I would read instead. It worked, and I've been reading ever since.
I especially love thrillers, contemporary, literary & historical fiction, and beach reads in the summer!. Jess’s Secret Shelf started from a love of discovering new books and helping other readers find stories they might not have picked up on their own.
Each Blind Date with a Book is personally selected and wrapped to keep the title a surprise. Instead of judging a book by its cover, you get clues about the genre, rating, spice level, and story before meeting your mystery read.
Over time, Jess’s Secret Shelf has grown beyond adult Blind Dates to include children’s Playdates with a Book, Blind Date with a Book Jr., bookish accessories, special editions, and gifts made for readers.
One of my favorite parts of this business is meeting readers at local events and helping someone walk away excited about their next book.
